I have family in KG and visit usually twice a year. If you are traveling in Serbia it's a very valid alternative to places like Belgrade. There is a lot to do and see, it just takes some amount of paying attention and being willing to explore.
The central part of the city has a pedestrian walkway filled with cafes, shops, and restaurants, live music most nights, bookstores, second-hand shops, all kinds of interesting things to do and see. Prices are FAR less than say Belgrade. There is a good bus system and a Tourist Information Center to help you with that, or you can take taxis, which are quite reasonable and easy to find. There are spectacular parks, a terrific indoor pool, facilities as good as anywhere,;and some small but very high quality museums.
It's a smaller industrial city but really does have a lot to offer. It's just not quite as obvious as some larger city, and takes, like I say, a willingness to do some exploring.
A bus from Belgrade was, in 12/2023, about USD$10 one-way and took about an hour-and-a-half.

It's a very clean city with much more trees than Niš (my city). It's easy to navigate through Kragujevac and every street leads to a square where it is easy to see where you've been and where you are at the moment, it's very hard to get lost basically. There are markets (like Maxi or Idea) at every corner if you need refreshments or you don't want to go to restaurants for food.
Since we stayed there for practically one entire day (we were there at the wedding for one entire day and departed after breakfast at the hotel, thus the only one entire day), we only visited one place with great praseće pečenje (roast pork) called Aleksandar Veliki (Alexander the Great) - Google maps show a wrong location, ask locals where the restaurant is once you are up in the hill, but basically just look at the street numbers and head upward when maps tell you to stop if you don't see the restaurant; also, the restaurant was recently rebranded with this name, the name can be seen at the door inscription.
There are also a few museums near the city center, but their working hours are until 2:30 pm or 3 pm. A must see place - memorial park Šumarice and museum 21st October, a testimony of terrorism of the Nazi Germany in Serbia, a tribute to murdered students from local schools (and specifically one entire class), their teachers, friends, family and neighbors (around 2800 people were executed in mass shootings in the course of 3 days). This one has better work hours than others, it can be seen on Google and their website; the tickets are 100 RSD, so basically less than €1/$1. What may be missing is the translation of the comic since it is only in Serbian, but I advise you to use Google lens and translate it, it contains a lot of important information regarding the massacre of people in that area.

Strengths: old historical city, nice people, interesting Memorial Museum, a lot of symbolic statues, good and cheap food;
Weaknesses: old infrastructure, there are still poor houses in the downtown, there are unclean places in the downtown.
The address is wrongly mentioned here. It is a fake booking apartment.
I personally was finding this apartment, but it was available on the address present neither this apartment exists.
The phone number given is also fake. I called them many times but no one answered neither called me back.
For me, it was really a very bad experience.
I will never ever recommend it.
My suggestion - "Do book an apartment or hotel before booking only when you contact them on given specific details that it really exists."
Thank you
Zaista dobar izbor za smeštaj u Kragujevcu. Lokacija pored autobuske stanice je meni išla u prilog, centar je takođe blizu. Smeštaj očekivano dobar, osoblje ljubazno, doručak ugodan. Sve pohvale! ⭐

Very good choice for a stay in Kragujevac. You might find it appealing due to location being close to the bus station. My room was clean, warm, cozy. The staff were pleasant. Very good breakfast too! I'd recommend!
The apartment is in a brand new building, cozy and bright, with big terrace. It is located in a very quiet area, but still very close to the center of Kragujevac. The parking space in the basement of the building only contributes to the overall good impression. Check-in and checkout were smooth and effortless. I can recommend this apartment without any hesitation.
We did not stay in the hotel we reserved due to some maintenance. They called us to ask whether we agreed to stay in a much better partner hotel, Zeneva lux. Of course, we accepted, because it is a 4-star hotel and the hotel was excellent. So we cannot tell anything about the hotel Zeneva except that the location of the hotel is better.
Had a super pleasant experience staying here. Host is prompt to messages and
helpful! This is my third time in Kragujevac and this place was definitely the best out of all. The location is great, apartment stylish and very clean! Across the street there is a big supermarket.
Overall, i definitely recommend it!
Owner was on time and very helpful sharing information about his place and surrounding. We had small issues with internet data (yes, it's 4g router with 100GB data) was fixed very fast after calling owner. If we go back to Kragujevac we will try to stay in this flat for sure.
We had a really good time at Sirob Bubanj in Kragujevac. We stayed for two weeks and it felt like our little home. The view from the balcony is nice and the flat was cosy. Our host was very nice, we could ask them any time if something was missing.
Thank you!
Great location in the center of the city, secured parking lot in front of the hotel. Breakfast is very good, mostly pastery. They were very kind to provide us with a meeting room (with all necessery equipment) on a very short notice. Internet is great.
Everything was excellent. Very helpful personel, tasty breakfast, everyday cleaning of the room and the location near the town centre makes this hotel best choice for staying in Kragujevac. I highly reccommend Hotel Andjelika!
Great location in the centre of Kragujevac. Tastefully renovated, modern apartment with all facilities. High end style toiletries, crispy clean sheets and well appointed kitchen.
Helpful host, great service.
The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, giving a very cosy feeling. Great location in a quiet neghbourhood yet still close to the city center. Will visit soon again for sure.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, perfect for our one night stay on our way to Greece. Very nice restaurant nearby to have a beer after a long drive. Although its app. 20 km from highway, the place was worth it.
The hotel rooms, spa and pool are amazing, staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast food was great with a lot of varieties of food and drinks. The hotel restaurant severs amazing food as well.
Everything was great, the owner is helpful. It is a small, cozy apartment near the main bus station, but quiet (you can sleep well) not close to the city center but taxi in Kragujevac is cheap. 😊
The apartment is better than photos show. All is clean and tidy. Location is great - between city center and the Great park and Šumarice. There is a private parking in the building yard.
Clean, very stylish and comfortable apartment with a beautiful view. The host is very nice and helpful. Will definitely stay here when coming back to Kragujevac!
